Error Message: "Internal Error 2755" Occurs During Installation (285057)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Mobile Information Server from a Terminal Services session, you may receive the following error message:
Internal Error 2755. 3,
F:\Path\Mobile Information Server.msi

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the path to the Setup.exe file uses a mapped drive. Mobile Information Server currently does not support installations that use a mapped drive through a Terminal Services session.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the full Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path to the Setup.exe file. For example:

\\Servername\Sharename\Setup.exe
