Deployment design experts can use the Exchange 2000 Load Simulator utility (Loadsim) to accurately simulate the load of Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) clients against Exchange 2000. To do so, run Loadsim tests on client computers. These computers send messaging requests to the Exchange 2000 server, which causes a load. You can use the output from these tests to:

Calculate the client response time for the server configuration under the client load.
Calculate the realistic number of users for each server.
Identify bottlenecks on the server.

This updated version of the Loadsim utility supports the configuration of MAPI Messaging Benchmark 2 users. This updated version of the Loadsim utility is newer that the Loadsim utility that is included in the Exchange 2000 Server Resource Kit. Configured topologies are also created automatically in Active Directory. Therefore, no manual directory import function is required.
