When you attempt to add a Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional-based computer to a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based domain, you may find that you cannot do so and you may receive the following error message:
Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred: The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when you do not have administrative permissions in the domain. This behavior also can occur if your username contains a space, even if your user account has administrative permissions.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, add your user account to the Administrators local group in the domain, and if your username contains a space, copy your user account to a new username that does not contain a space.
