The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
This article was previously published under Q285009 SYMPTOMS
When you install Microsoft Mobile Information Server, and click the components that you want to install, you are prompted to enter the password for the Exchange Event Source user account.
If the account already exists, a Password window is displayed. You are not normally expected to enter anything in the Confirm Password box. However, when you enter the password, the following message is displayed:
The passwords do not match. Please try again.
To remove this message, you must cancel the installation.
CAUSE
When you install Mobile Information Server, it uses a special system account named "Enteventsource" for the Exchange 2000 Event service. This account is created during the initial setup. If the initial setup is interrupted or if the Exchange 2000 Event Source has been removed from the Exchange 2000 server, this account is not removed. When you run Setup again, this account causes errors.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, manually delete this account before you run Setup again.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
