WD2002: Office Assistant Does Not Respond to Voice Commands (284887)

You are unable to dismiss messages from the Office Assistant using Voice Command mode in Microsoft Word. For example, when you say "File, Close" while an unsaved document is open, an Office Assistant balloon appears with the following message:
Do you want to save the changes to file name?
However, when you say "Yes," "No," or "Cancel," nothing happens. You must click Yes, No, or Cancel in order to dismiss the balloon.
CAUSE
Voice Command mode is not supported for use with the Office Assistant.
Voice Command mode is supported for use with command buttons in dialog boxes.
WORKAROUND
For the best results using speech recognition, use a combination of voice commands, typing, and mouse clicks. In some cases, the most effective way to accomplish a task is to use typing or mouse clicks instead of voice commands.
You can also hide the Office Assistant while you are using voice commands. When you do this, the dialog boxes that appear in place of the Office Assistant balloons respond to voice commands.
To hide the Office Assistant, do one of the following:
- On the Help menu, click Hide the Office Assistant.
-or- - In the Assistant balloon, click Options. If the Assistant balloon is not visible, click the Office Assistant. On the Options tab, click to clear the Use the Office Assistant check box.
NOTE: To show the Office Assistant again, click Show the Office Assistant on the Help menu.
