This article was previously published under Q284885 SYMPTOMS
When you create a Pivot Table in Microsoft Excel 2002 and you attempt to filter the data from an ODBC data source, the data is not updated in the Pivot Table.
CAUSE
The Auto Starting at check box in the Grouping dialog box is not selected for a data field in the Pivot Table.
WORKAROUND
Select the Auto Starting at check box in the Grouping dialog box. To do this, follow these steps:
- In the PivotTable, select the cell that contains the header for the grouped data fields.
- On the Data menu, point to Groups and Outline, and then click Group.
- Under Auto, click to select the Starting at check box, and then click OK.
- Reapply the filter to the data in the Pivot Table using the Pivot Table Wizard.
Alternatively, you can clear both the Auto Starting at and the Auto Ending at check boxes in the Grouping dialog box and then select a value or date large enough to include all the data that you want. Then, reapply the filter to the data in the Pivot Table using the Pivot Table Wizard.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
