INFO: Message Queuing Does Not Allow You to Rejoin the Domain After You Rename Your Computer (284851)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Message Queuing 2.0

This article was previously published under Q284851

SUMMARY

Message Queuing (MSMQ) switches to workgroup mode after the computer with MSMQ installed is removed from the domain, renamed, and then made to rejoin the domain. You cannot rejoin the domain after you rename your computer.

MORE INFORMATION

MSMQ tries to create the msmqConfiguration object with the globally unique identifier (GUID) in question. However, msmqConfiguration is already using this GUID under the old computer object. If you are going to rename your computer, remove MSMQ from your computer before you remove it from the domain.
