Firewall Service Stops After You Upgrade ISA Server RC1 (284701)

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server Release Candidate 1 (RC1), if the server is a member of an array, the Firewall service stops on the remaining servers that are running ISA Server RC1. You may receive the following error message when you restart the first server:
The Microsoft Firewall Service service terminated with service specific error 213007
The following events may be logged in the event log:
Microsoft Firewall Service failed to start. The failure occurred during reading of protocols because the configuration property ConDirection of key

LDAP://test.domain/CN={01b44810-d4 a3-11d2-bbc4-00a0c9d785a6},CN=Protocols,CN=PolicyElements,CN=0D0835A1-A8B3-4B02-9209-6B3DFEE03ED7,CN=Arrays,CN=Fpc,CN=System,DC=domain is not valid.

Use the source location 312.167.3.0.1058.0 to report the failure. More details of this event can be found in ISA Server on-line help.

The error code in the Data area indicates the cause of the failure. This error code is shown in hexadecimal format (click Words). The data is invalid.

6796: WSP (6688): 1863: RC: this=CC450 ref=1 (Release)
6796: WSP (6688): 1863: RC: this=CC450 ref=0 (~CRefObj)

CAUSE

This issue can occur if all the array members were not upgraded at the same time. When you upgrade an array member that is running ISA Server RC1, you must upgrade all array members at the same time. Array members that are not upgraded do not function properly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
