The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q284688

SYMPTOMS

When you restore the Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server backup from another ISA Server-based computer (computer A) onto the current ISA Server-based computer (computer B), the server name on computer B may be overwritten with the previous server name of computer A.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Backup and Restore feature of ISA Server is not intended to replicate computer configurations. This feature is intended only to restore the configuration on the same computer.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

This feature may cause incorrect server names in the Protocol rules and the packet filters on ISA Server.

To create a backup of the ISA Server configuration:
  1. Open the ISA Management console.
  2. Click ISA Server, click Array, and then click Backup.
  3. Specify a location for the backup information.
  4. Specify a name for the backup file, and then click OK.
