The Local Address Table Range May Be Ignored in the Unattended Install File (284501)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q284501

SYMPTOMS

In the Unattended Install file (Msisaund.ini) which is located in the Program files\Microsoft ISA\Setupbin\ folder, under the [Firewall LAT Config] section, the local address table (LAT) range entry may be ignored if the entry exceeds 100 characters.

An example of the [Firewall LAT Config] section where ranges 1 and 2 are invalid:

Range1=157.0.0.0-------------------------------------------------------------157.55.86.1
Range2=157.60.1.1------------------------------------------------------------157.60.1.1
Range3=157.58.197.25--157.58.197.25
Range4=158.126.0.0---158.255.255.1
Range5=157.0.0.0---157.255.255.1

NOTE: In this example, the hyphen (-) is added to represent spaces. The hyphen, however, must not be used in the file that had been created on ISA Server. The range numbers from 3 through 5 are valid while the ranges 1 and 2 are not because they totaled in excess of 100 characters when the spaces are added to the number of characters for the range.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because the entries in the section of the file that exceeded 100 characters are invalid.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, do not use so many spaces between the addresses when you edit a file. One or two spaces are valid and can be read correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
