OL2002: No Addresses in Offline Address Book After Upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows Me (284399)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook 2002, when used with:
- the operating system: Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
This article was previously published under Q284399 SYMPTOMS
If you have configured Outlook 2002 with an offline store (OST) and an offline Address Book (OAB) for working offline under Windows 98 Second Edition, the OAB no longer contains addresses after you upgrade to Windows Millennium Edition (Me).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the default location for the OAB in the Outlook store in Windows 98 is different from its location in Windows Me.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, download the OAB from Exchange Server after you upgrade to Windows Me:
- Start Outlook, click the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, and then click Download Address Book.
- Click OK.
You also can move your OAB files from the Outlook store in Windows 98, which is located at \\Windows\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook, to the Outlook store in Windows Me, which is located at \\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.
