OL2002: Your Hotmail Inbox Appears Empty if the Cache PST File Is Deleted (284397)

SYMPTOMS

If Outlook 2002 cannot open or locate the Hotmail cache personal folders (.pst) file, then your Hotmail Inbox appears to be empty and the preview pane is not be present.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, select another folder and then reselect your Hotmail Inbox. Outlook creates the Hotmail cache personal folders (.pst), queries the headers, and starts the preview pane.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
