OL2002: Outlook Creates Profile and Data File Though You Cancel Profile in Account Manager Wizard (284368)

SYMPTOMS

When you start to create a profile but then cancel the Account Manager Wizard before completing the profile, Outlook creates the profile and an Outlook data file for that profile.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, remove the profile after Outlook creates it:
  1. In Control Panel, double-click Mail, and then click Show Profiles.
  2. Click the profile that you want to delete, and then click Remove.
  3. Click Yes to confirm the deletion, and then click OK.
To cancel the creation of a profile and keep Outlook from creating a data file, click Cancel in the New Profile dialog box before the Account Manager Wizard starts.

This behavior is designed to let you create a profile that contains no e-mail accounts.
