File Source Does Not Loop without a Sound Card (284268)

SYMPTOMS

If there is no audio capture device installed on a computer, and a file is specified as the audio input source, the Windows Media Encoder does not work as expected.

When there is no audio capture device, the Windows Media Encoder only plays through the specified file one time, instead of looping it as expected.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows Media Encoder version 7.0.
