SYMPTOMS

When you open a packaged Commerce site file (.pup) in the Commerce Server Site Packager wizard, if you click the Back button, and then select the Package an existing site option, you may receive the following error:
Error occurred during Packaging. Review the log for details.
The Pup.log file displays the following errors:

AddFileToPupDocument 80030001:Method '~' of object '~' failed
Operation Completed

RESOLUTION

Do not attempt to package an existing .pup file by using the Commerce Server Site Packager. If you want to package a Commerce Server site, do the following:
  1. Open the Commerce Server Manager (MMC).
  2. Right-click the site.
  3. Click All Tasks, and then click Pack Site.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Commerce Server 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

When you double-click any packaged Commerce site, the Commerce Server Site Packager wizard begins. If you click the Back button instead of the Next button on the first screen, the wizard moves back one screen and gives you the option to either Unpackage or Package a site. If you select the option to package a site, you can continue through the wizard without any problems, until the last screen where the error appears.

Steps to Reproduce This Behavior

  1. Browse to any .pup package.
  2. Double-click the package to open it with the Commerce Server Site Packager.
  3. Click the Back button, click Package an existing site, and then click Next.
  4. In the Package Site dialog box, change the Package file to create field so that the name of the .pup file created is different than the existing .pup file, and then click Next.
  5. In the Profiling System dialog box, leave the fields blank, and then click Next. Click OK in the resulting warning dialog box.
