INFO: PID Switch on the Command Line Prevents PID Prompt in User Interface (284179)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2002
  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q284179

SUMMARY

When you install Commerce Server using the command line, the Product Identification Number (PID) switch and value must be provided to prevent being prompted for the PID in the user interface.

MORE INFORMATION

When you install Commerce Server by using the silent mode installation from the command line, include the PIDKEY switch on the command line:
PIDKEY=<Product Identification Number>

Failure to include the PIDKEY switch results in the installation process prompting for the PID in the user interface setup.

NOTE: You must enter the PID without dashes. For example:
PIDKEY=AAAAABBBBBCCCCCDDDDDEEEEE
