SUMMARY

This article describes how to redirect traffic from your Default Web Site to a workspace.

MORE INFORMATION

When your server is used to host only SharePoint Portal Server workspaces, you may want the traffic that typically goes to your Default Web Site (http://servername/) to be redirected to a particular workspace. To configure this redirection, set a redirection to http://servername/workspacename on the Default Web Site:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Services Manager.
  2. Right-click Default Web Site, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the Home Directory tab, and click A redirection to a URL.
  4. In the Redirect to dialog box, enter the workspace name, which is preceded by a slash mark (/). For example, if your workspace name is "knowledge", type: /knowledge.
  5. Under The Client will be sent to section, ensure that only A directory below this one has been clicked.
  6. Stop, and then restart the Default Web Site. To access the workspace, type: http://servername.
