SYMPTOMS

When you try to start a trial version of Money, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:
The system date in your computer must be data range in order to run this trial version of Microsoft Money . version.
Note The data range and version in this error message will vary depending on which Microsoft Money Trial version you have installed. For example, the error message may state:
The system date in your computer must be 2005 or 2006 in order to run this trial version of Microsoft Money 2006.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the trial versions of Microsoft Money are designed to expire at the end of the year that follows the release of a new version.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, obtain the full retail version of Microsoft Money. To do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

To work around this behavior temporarily, before you start your trial version of Money, manually set your computer's date setting to the year in which Money is designed to run. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Date/Time.
  3. On the Date & Time tab, click the appropriate year, and then click OK.
Once you make this change, you should be able to open Money. When you are finished working in Money, repeat these steps, but click the current year in step 3, to make sure your date is current again.
