The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q283861 NOTE: This issue only applies to Excel 97 SR-2; it does not apply to earlier versions.
SYMPTOMS
If you export a table from Microsoft Access 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2) to Microsoft Excel format, and then link from a new file to the resulting workbook, when you open the linked workbook and update links, you receive the following error message:
filename contains incomplete calculation.
CAUSE
This error message occurs due to a problem with the Excel indexed sequential access method (ISAM) driver that is included with Microsoft Office 97 SR-2.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, open the exported Excel file in Excel, press CTRL+ALT+F9 to recalculate, and then save the file. You can now open the linked file without errors.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem is scheduled to be corrected in a future version of the ISAM driver.
