SYMPTOMS

When you are using the Microsoft Outlook 2000 client on your Windows NT 4.0-based computer to send an e-mail message that is digitally signed or encrypted and you click the Cancel button on the Password dialog box, you may receive the following error message:
You do not have appropriate permission to perform this operation.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
