Advanced Search Preferences Are Not Saved from Session to Session in Help and Support Services (283796)

SYMPTOMS

You open Help and Support Service, click the Advanced Search Options link and then makes customized selections, such as which wrappers to search on and the number of hits returned. When that session of Help and Support is closed, those customized settings are not saved. When a new session is opened later, all settings have been reset to defaults values. Your preferences do not persist from session to session, and do not get saved on a per-user basis.

CAUSE

On the Advanced Search of Help and Support Services, user preferences persist per session, not per user. This is because a user may open more than one Help Center user interface at one time. In this case, it would be very confusing, as to which set of parameters should be saved.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
