CAB files may appear as a tree node in Windows Explorer (283605)

SYMPTOMS

When you view folders in Windows Explorer and you click the folder, .cab file archives and subfolders under the parent folder may be displayed. However, if you expand the folder node by clicking the plus sign (+) that is next to the folder name, this behavior does not occur.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
