SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your computer from Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition to Windows XP, the Sigma Designs DVD Station software that is required to run the RealMagic Hollywood Plus DVD decoder does not work. When you try to play a DVD, the following error message may appear:
The specified device is not open or is not recognized by MCI.

CAUSE

This issue can occur after an upgrade because the drivers that are currently installed are not compatible with Windows XP.
