PPT2001: Color Objects Print Black and White to Color Printer (283277)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q283277 SYMPTOMS
If you print a color slide from PowerPoint 2001 for Mac to a color printer, some or all elements may print in black and white (or in shades of gray).
CAUSE
PowerPoint 2001 can enable grayscale printing in the printer driver. This feature optimizes the way color slides print to black and white printers.
On the Macintosh, there is no way for a program to detect whether the current printer is a black and white printer or a color printer. Therefore, PowerPoint turns on the grayscale printing option in the printer driver by default.
RESOLUTION
Before you print, turn off grayscale/black & white printing by clearing the Pure Black & White check box and the Grayscale check box in the printing dialog box.
If you are printing to a color printer that uses the LaserWriter 8.5.x or later printer driver, the check boxes are listed on the Print dialog box in PowerPoint. To open the PowerPoint dialog box, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click Print.
- In the upper-left corner of the Print dialog box, click Microsoft PowerPoint in the General list.
- Click to clear the GrayScale check box.
If you are printing to an inkjet printer driver, this option is in the Print dialog box, and you must select the Color Ink setting.
PowerPoint 2001 now prints in color until the Grayscale or Pure Black & White check boxes are selected.
