SYMPTOMS

When you click the Tools menu, and then point to Send/Receive to check your Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) account messages, the dialog box that displays the status of each task may not appear.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because you may have enabled the Always Hide this dialog option.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this behavior, change the value data of the Always Hide Dialog option in the registry key. To do this:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. Type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Click the plus (+) sign that is next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, and then click the plus sign that is next to Software.
  4. Click the plus sign that is next to Microsoft, and then click the plus that is next to Office.
  5. Click the plus sign that is next to 9.0, and then click the plus sign that is next to Outlook.
  6. Click the plus sign that is next to Options, and then click the plus sign that is next to Mail.
  7. Double-click the Always Hide Dialog entry on the right pane, and then change the value data to 0.
  8. Click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.
  9. Restart Windows.
