MORE INFORMATION

The Works programs listed at the beginning of this article save files to and open files from the My Documents folder by default.

To open files created in earlier versions of Works, follow these steps:
  1. Locate the folder that contains your Works documents. By default, earlier versions of Works saves files in the following folders:
    • C:\Msworks
    • C:\Program Files\MsWorks\Documents
If your Works documents are not located in one of the default folders, use Works Task Launcher to search for your documents:
    1. Start the Works Task Launcher.
    2. On the History tab, click Find Files or Folders.
    3. In the File name box, type the name of a file that you saved.
    4. In the Look In box, click either Local hard drives or My Computer.
    5. Click Find Now or Search Now.
    6. In the In Folder column, note the path to your saved document.
  2. In Windows Explorer, right-click the folder that contains your Works documents (the folder that you noted in step 1F, C:\Msworks, or C:\Program Files\MsWorks\Documents), and then click Copy.
  3. In the left pane of Windows Explorer, click the My Documents folder.

Note You may need to scroll to find the My Documents folder.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Paste Shortcut.
  5. On the Programs tab, click the program for the document type that you want to open.
  6. In the right pane, click to open a blank document.
  7. On the File menu, click Open.
  8. Double-click the shortcut to your Works document folder.
  9. Click the file that you want to open, and then click Open.
