The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Site Server 3.0

This article was previously published under Q283135

SYMPTOMS

When you replicate files with a very long path and file name, Site Server Content Deployment throws exception e06d7363, and then shuts down. When you try to replicate a file that has a path and file name that exceeds MAX_PATH, the Crssrv.exe service on the destination computer stops, and Dr. Watson displays the following error message:
An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.
Crssrv.exe Exception: (0xe06d7363). Address: 0x77f1d479" is generated.

CAUSE

Content Deployment does not handle a file gracefully when the file path length exceeds MAX_PATH. Windows NT Server allowed the creation of the file with a path that exceeded MAX_PATH.

WORKAROUND

Use a shorter path name for the source file.

-or-

Use Windows 2000 as the Content Deployment source server.

MORE INFORMATION
