View Setting Preferences in Removable Storage Management Are Not Saved (283082)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Full view or any other special viewing preference option in Removable Storage Management, this is not the view that you see when you re-open Removable Storage Management in Computer Management.

The next time you open the Removable Storage Management snap-in, it appears in the default view.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because although the Removable Storage Management snap-in can save settings, Computer Management snap-ins do not run in Author mode, thus, the settings that you choose are not saved.

RESOLUTION

If you want a Computer Management-like snap-in with the Removable Storage Management snap-in in Full view mode, create another console with all of the same snap-ins, and then save it with Removable Storage Management in Full view mode.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
