WD2001: Cannot Delete Address Book Entries (Entourage Contacts) from AutoText List in Word (283020)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q283020 SYMPTOMS
If you have contacts in the Address Book in Entourage (the Office Address Book), the contacts are automatically imported into Word 2001 as AutoText entries with AutoComplete functionality.
If you delete the AutoText entries for your contacts, the contacts are imported again the next time that you start Word. There is no option for turning off (disabling) the importation of contacts into the AutoText list, even if you lock the Normal template after you delete the AutoText entries.
NOTE: To insert a contact as an AutoText entry into a document, select the AutoText command on the Insert menu, and then click the Contact submenu. You also can do this through other interfaces in Word 2001.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, you can turn off the AutoComplete tips. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Insert menu, select the AutoText command.
- In the AutoText dialog box, click to clear the Show AutoComplete tip for AutoText, Address Book Contacts, and dates check box.
