Error Message "The Following Command Was Not Found" When You Use the Netsh Command (283009)

SYMPTOMS

Some specific Netsh context commands are not available even though they are listed.

For example, if you type netsh at a command prompt, and then type the following commands:
  • ras (and press ENTER)
  • ipx (and press ENTER)
  • add (and press ENTER)
you receive the following list of commands:
  • add authtype: Adds the types of authentication that the remote access server negotiates.
  • add link: Adds to the list of link properties that Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) negotiates.
  • add multilink: Adds to the list of multilink types PPP negotiates.
  • add registeredserver: Registers the given Windows 2000 computer as a remote access server in Active Directory for a given domain.
When you attempt to use any of these commands, you receive the following error message:

The following command was not found

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the Routing and Remote Access snap-in to configure these properties.
