Unable to access the CD-ROM drive or floppy disk from the EFI shell (282944)

SYMPTOMS

After you boot an Itanium (IA64)-based computer into the EFI shell, you are unable to see the CD-ROM device or the floppy device by using the map command.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the drive was not mounted. To access these devices from the EFI shell, you have to insert media into the CD-ROM drive or the floppy prior to starting the computer.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
