CRL Chasing Does Not Work on Windows NT 4.0 (282935)

When you are using Outlook 2000 on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 client to check a certificate that was issued by an LDAP certificate authority, you may receive the following error message:
The Certificate Revocation List needed to verify the signing certificate is either unavailable or has expired.
Note that you may receive this error message even if the certificate is valid.
CAUSE
This is caused by the inability of Windows NT 4.0 to issue an LDAP version 3 BindRequest.
RESOLUTIONA supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. In a network trace you can see an LDAP ProtocolOp where the client issues a version 2 BindRequest and the server responds with Result Code = No Such Object. This continues until the client times out and then Outlook returns the error message.
