Handheld PC Slows After Closing Infrared Send or Receive Dialog Box (282903)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE 3.0 Professional Edition for the Handheld PC
  • Microsoft Windows CE 3.0 for the Handheld PC 2000

This article was previously published under Q282903

SYMPTOMS

If you close the Infrared Send dialog box while you are transferring a file over infrared, the other Handheld PC (H/PC) that is receiving the transmission slows. Also, if you close the Infrared Receive dialog box while your H/PC is receiving a file over infrared, the H/PC that is sending the transmission slows.

WORKAROUND

To avoid this problem, do not use the Close (X) button to close the dialog box during file transmission. If you want to interrupt the transfer, move the two infrared ports so that they are not lined up. Close the dialog box by tapping the Close (X) button after the transmission is interrupted.

If you closed the dialog box by tapping the Close (X) button, close the dialog box on the other device to return to typical speed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

To prepare to transfer files between two devices, select the file you want to send, and then use the Send to Infrared Recipient command on the sending device. On the receiving device, tap the Receive command on the File menu in Windows Explorer to receive data.
