SYMPTOMS

When you use your mouse to increase the size of a Word table that is displayed in the Reviewing Pane, the table then includes a negative indent in the Reviewing Pane and displays additional (false) table cells along the left side of the table in the body of the document.

NOTE: This problem occurs in print layout view and normal view, and when you print the document.

WORKAROUND

Use one of the following methods appropriate to your situation.

Method 1: Do Not Modify the Table in the Reviewing Pane

When you modify a table, do not modify it in the Reviewing Pane. Instead, modify the table in the body of your document.

Method 2: Do Not Use the Mouse to Modify a Table in the Reviewing Pane

To modify a table that is displayed in the Reviewing Pane, follow these steps:
  1. Click into the table that is displayed in the Reviewing Pane.
  2. On the Table menu, point to Select, and then click Table.

NOTE: Only the table displayed in the Reviewing Pane is selected.
  3. On the Table menu, click Table Properties.
  4. In the Table Properties dialog box, make the changes that you want to the table.
  5. Click OK to close the Table Properties dialog box.
NOTE: The changes to your table are reflected in the table in the body of the document, as well as the table displayed in the Reviewing Pane.

Method 3: Remove the Negative Indent on the Table in the Reviewing Pane

To remove the negative indent that was applied to the table in the Reviewing Pane when you used the mouse to increase the table size, follow these steps:
  1. Click into the table that is displayed in the Reviewing Pane.
  2. On the Table menu, point to Select, and then click Table.

NOTE: Only the table displayed in the Reviewing Pane is selected.
  3. On the Table menu, click Table Properties.
  4. On the Table tab, change the Indent from left box to 0".
  5. Click OK to close the Table Properties dialog box.
NOTE: The changes to your table are reflected in the table in the body of the document, as well as the table displayed in the Reviewing Pane.

Method 4: Accept All Changes

To accept the changes that you made to the table that is displayed in the Reviewing Pane, follow these steps:
  1. Click into the table that is in the body of the document.

NOTE: Do not leave the insertion point in the table that is displayed in the Reviewing Pane. If you do this and then accept the change, the problem will still exist with the table in the body of the document.
  2. On the Reviewing toolbar, click the arrow next to the Accept Change button, and then click Accept All Changes in Document on the menu that appears.

NOTE: If the Reviewing toolbar is not displayed, point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Reviewing.
