PRB: Deletion of a Folder on Application Center Cluster Controller May Not Be Synchronized to Members (282480)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Application Center 2000
This article was previously published under Q282480 SYMPTOMS
If you have enabled automatic updates on an Application Center 2000 cluster and you delete a folder that is named as a resource in an application on the cluster controller, then it is possible that automatic synchronization will not replicate the deletion. If the replication does not take place, then the folder will not be deleted on other cluster members. Note that this can only occur if the folder that you delete is explicitly named as an Application Center 2000 file resource or is the local path of a Web site's home folder or the local path of a virtual directory.
CAUSE
Application Center 2000 does not always receive ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED from GetQueuedCompletionStatus() when a monitored folder is deleted, especially when subfolders and files are deleted at the same time (you delete the folder and all of its contents at the same time).
RESOLUTION
If this occurs, then a manual full synchronization of the application or of the cluster will propagate the folder deletion to all cluster members.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
