This article was previously published under Q282460 SYMPTOMS When you try to add a client through the Internet
Authentication Service (IAS) snap-in, you may receive either of the following
error messages: There was an error writing the client
name -or- An error occurred while writing the
client name. A duplicate name already exists or IAS is unable to access the
database. CAUSE This behavior may occur if the client that you want to add
has a Friendly Name that is identical to that of an existing
client.RESOLUTION To work around this behavior, re-create the IAS client with
a different Friendly Name. STATUSThis
behavior is by design.
