ACC2002: Access Menu Bar Does Not Have Focus When You Start Access (282399)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Access, the focus is on the task pane rather than on the main menu bar. As a result, the mouse pointer is not able to select the menu headings.

RESOLUTION

Click anywhere in the main window to bring the menu bar into focus.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Start Access.
  2. Before clicking anything, point your mouse at File, Edit, View or any of the other headings on the main menu bar.

    Notice that none of them are selected as expected.
  3. Click your mouse in the main window and point to any of the menu bar headings. Note that they are now selected as you point at them.
