ACC2002: Shortcut Menu Is Not Available in the Expression Builder or Zoom Dialog Box (282386)

SYMPTOMS

In the Expression Builder or Zoom dialog box, if you right-click to open the shortcut menu, the shortcut menu does not appear.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Microsoft Access now uses a different type of control for the Expression Builder and Zoom dialog box, in order to provide full Unicode support. However, this control does not support shortcut menus.

RESOLUTION

In order to paste in the Expression Builder or Zoom dialog box, use the CTRL+V or ALT+V key combinations.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.
  2. Create a new query in Design View. Add the Customers table to the query.
  3. Right-click anywhere in the Field line of the QBE grid and click Build.
  4. Right-click anywhere in the Expression Builder window. Note that the shortcut menu does not appear.
