ACC2002: Pivot Views Are Not Preserved When You Import Tables from Access Projects (282351)

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

When you import tables from a Microsoft Access project (*.adp), previously saved PivotTable and PivotChart views are not preserved as expected.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, manually edit the Pivot views of the imported tables.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Problem

CAUTION: If you follow the steps in this example, you modify the sample Access project NorthwindCS.adp. You may want to back up the NorthwindCS.adp file and follow these steps on a copy of the project.

  1. Open the sample project NorthwindCS.adp.
  2. Open the Employees table in Datasheet view.
  3. On the View menu, click PivotChart View.
  4. In the Chart Field list, drag the City field to the Category Fields drop zone at the bottom of the chart.
  5. Drag the EmployeeID field to the Data Fields drop zone at the top of the chart.
  6. Close and save the table.
  7. Close NorthwindCS.adp.
  8. On the File menu, click New. In the task pane, click Blank Database, and then click Create to accept the default name, db1.mdb.
  9. On the File menu, point to Get External Data, and then click Import.
  10. Select NorthwindCS.adp, and then click Import.
  11. Open the Employees table in Datasheet view.
  12. On the View menu, click PivotChart View.
Note that the PivotChart view created in steps 1-6 was not preserved when the table was imported.
