XL2002: Error Message When You Double-Click Map Object (282154)

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click or otherwise activate a Microsoft Map object in a Microsoft Excel worksheet, you receive the following error message:
Cannot start the source application for this object.

CAUSE

Microsoft Map, sometimes referred to as Data Map, is no longer included in Excel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

To confirm the validity of the error message, follow these steps:
  1. Start Excel.
  2. In Excel Help, search for any topic with the word "map." Note that there are no Help topics about maps.
