This article was previously published under Q282142 SYMPTOMS If you search a Microsoft Excel workbook for data that you
are certain is in the workbook, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Excel cannot find the data you're searching
for. Check your search options, location and formatting.
CAUSE This behavior can occur if you are searching for text,
values, or formatting that is contained in a filtered list and the filtering
criteria prevents the text, values, or formatting from being displayed. This
behavior is by design of Excel. WORKAROUND To work around this issue, you need to select each sheet,
set the filter criteria to Show All, and then perform the search.
To show all data in a
filtered list, on the Data menu, point to Filter, and then click Show All.
REFERENCESFor more
information about filters, click Microsoft Excel Help on the Help menu, type filter in the Office Assistant
or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics returned.
