XL2002: Columns Are Removed and Other Columns Are Moved to the Left When You Refresh Query Table (282133)

When you refresh a table of external data in a Microsoft Excel workbook, some of the columns may be removed, and other columns may be added and/or moved to the left. References to the missing columns change to #REF.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when all of the following conditions are true:
- You refresh data from an external source.
-and- - The column names have changed in the external source.
-and- - The query option to preserve the original column layout is selected.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- On the Edit menu, click Undo Refresh Data.
- Click anywhere in the imported data, and then click Data Range Properties on the External Data toolbar.
- Click to clear the Preserve column sort/filter/layout check box, and then click OK.
- On the External Data toolbar, click Refresh Data.
