FP2002: Default Spelling Language Setting Does Not Seem to Affect Spelling Check (282112)

SYMPTOMS

When you select a new Default spelling language (on the Tools menu, point to Page Options, and then click the General tab), no change seems to be made to the way words are checked for spelling errors.

CAUSE

By default, FrontPage uses the keyboard input locale to determine the language type of the page.

If no locale is detected, FrontPage uses the Default spelling language setting.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, instead of using the Default spelling language setting in FrontPage, change the input locale for your keyboard.

For example, if you want to create pages by using the English (New Zealand) setting, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Keyboard.
  3. Click the Input Locales tab.
  4. Click Add, and then select English (New Zealand).
  5. Click OK and return to FrontPage.
Now you can change your input locale to English (New Zealand) by clicking the EN on the task bar. Create a new page in FrontPage, and type the word colour. Note that it is not flagged as misspelled.
