Cacls.exe Does Not Print Percent Sign When Redirected to a File (282039)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
This article was previously published under Q282039 SYMPTOMS
Cacls.exe in Windows 2000 does not handle the percent sign (%) when it is redirected to a file. The output file contains the information up to the percent sign and omits the percent file from the output file.
For example, create a folder called Test on drive C and then
create a file called Test%test.txt in the Test folder. When you run cacls c:\test /c /t > c:\t.txt from the root folder, the output shows Testtest.txt instead of Test%test.txt.
