Lsass.exe Generates an Access Violation When Active Directory Scheme Loads on Domain Controller (281904)

SYMPTOMS

When a Windows 2000-based domain controller starts, Lsass.exe may generate an access violation when the schema for the Active Directory loads.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when Windows 2000 calls the SearchPerformanceLogFilterHelper routine and attempts to perform a Strlen function on a NULL string.

RESOLUTION

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
