SYMPTOMS

When you run a Windows Management Instrumentation script, or you query the namespace, you may receive the following error message:
Error: Invalid namespace
Code: 8004100E
Source: SWbemLocator
This error message means that the namespace specified cannot be located.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this behavior, check the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Wbem\Scripting

The default namespace value should have the value data of root\cimv2.
