FP2002: Some Features Are Still Available After You Turn Off Compatibility Options (281810)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2002

This article was previously published under Q281810

SYMPTOMS

After you clear the check boxes for certain compatibility options on the Compatibility tab (on the Tools menu, click Page Options), these features are still available.

Examples include the following:
  • When you clear the JavaScript and VBScript check boxes under Available Technologies, you expect form field validation to be unavailable. However, you can still use form field validation.

NOTE: To use form field validation, insert a form with a one-line text box, double-click the text box, and then click Validate.
  • When you clear the JavaScript and VBScript check boxes under Available Technologies, you expect the Database Results Wizard to be unavailable. However, you can still create a database results region that contains scripts.
  • After you set compatibility to Microsoft Web TV (under Browsers on the Compatibility tab), absolute positioning should not be available. However, when you click a picture, you can move it backward and forward, although you cannot alter its position.
  • When you clear the Enabled with Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions check box, you expect the FrontPage Database Interface Wizard not to run. However, it does run.

WORKAROUND

It is recommended that you test your Web with multiple browsers and with multiple resolutions, to be sure that everything works correctly and looks as you expect.

STATUS
