Deleted links remain in the List and Filter windows in a Web site map in Visio (281721)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional
  • Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003

This article was previously published under Q281721

SYMPTOMS

When you delete a Web shape directly from a Web site map drawing, the link continues to appear in the List window and Filter window after Visio removes it from the page.

CAUSE

If you delete a link in the List window, Visio deletes the link from its memory model, and deletes shapes that represent that link from all Web site map pages. However, if you delete a shape that represents a link in a Web site map drawing, the link remains in the memory model and the List window. This behavior is by design of Microsoft Visio.

MORE INFORMATION

The List window displays all the links discovered, and sorts them according to the hierarchical structure of the Web site.

When you drop a link from the List or Filter window onto the page, the Web Site Map template redraws the entire site map, and uses that link as the starting point.

By default, the List window is docked to the upper-left border of the drawing area, but you can move and resize the List window.

To display the shape that represents a link, select the drawing page on which the shape appears, right-click the link in the List window, and then click Show On Page. Visio selects the shape and displays it centered in the drawing area.

To open or close the List window, point to Windows on the Web menu, and then click List Window.
