The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2002

This article was previously published under Q281707

SYMPTOMS

When you turn off the use of JavaScript by using the Compatibility options in the Page Options dialog box, you can still insert the MSNBC weather forecast component (on the Insert menu, click Web Component).

NOTE: To turn on or turn off the use of JavaScript, click Page Options on the Tools menu. On the Compatibility tab, under Available Technologies, either select or clear the JavaScript check box.

RESOLUTION

If the Web browser that is used to view your Web page does not support JavaScript, do not insert the MSNBC weather forecast component.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

When developing Web pages, you may want to restrict the use of certain features that may be incompatible with your target audience's browsers.

With FrontPage, you can determine which technologies FrontPage allows to be used when users are authoring pages. The MSNBC weather forecast component uses JavaScript, which does not work correctly if the target audience is not using a browser that supports JavaScript.
