If you use the /x switch when you install Microsoft Internet Explorer, it may appear that the installation process has not started.

The /x switch assumes the /q:a switch, which is quiet. Therefore, when you start the installation process, the desktop does not change. To verify that the installation process has started, start Task Manager, click the Processes tab, and then confirm that Iesetup.exe and Ie5wzd.exe are running.
